Comics for Everybody!

Mondays, Oct. 8, 15 & 22, 6-9pm

Registration Deadline: last minute sign-up okay!

Teens 14+ and adults.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that blank pieces of paper are SCARY. If you find that this is standing between you and fulfilling your heart’s desire to make comics, this workshop might help! Using journal comics (simple one-page stories about personal experiences big and small), we’ll talk about how to turn thoughts into panels and feelings into images, as well as how to begin planning your staggering masterpiece of heartbreaking genius - or just a little zine about really good ice cream. No idea is too small, and all you need to make comics is yourself. A little company can help, though, so join us!

Instructor: Violet Austerlitz is an Iowa City cartoonist and printmaker, who likes telling stories about identity and creatures with big teeth. She is a long-time member of ICPC and is very happy to be part of such a vibrant community of artists. She also draws and writes a webcomic called The Satanic Mechanic.
