In this short introduction to self-publishing, participants will create their own zine. The first day of the workshop will take place at Public Space One, where students will learn about types of zines, get inspiration from the PS1 zine library, and begin creating content. The second session will take place at the Iowa City Public Library's Digital Media Lab, where participants will receive instruction on the basics of Adobe InDesign and will set up their zine for print. You may register for one or both sessions. Please note that separate registration is required for each session.

Instructor: Desiree Dahl began her Earthly experience in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated with a BFA from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014. Her primary mediums include relief, screenprinting, digital, and book arts. Her work examines human connection and disconnection in relation to consciousness and the mind. At the Iowa City Press Co-op, she serves as communications coordinator, holds open studio hours, and teaches workshops. She also enjoys yoga and meditation.
