Exploring Monoprint

Sunday, May 26, 12-5pm
Registration Deadline: May 23

Teens and adults

In monoprinting as the name suggests no two prints are perfectly alike. Only one print and altering ghost prints are created from each plate image. In this one-day immersive course, explore printing by hand and with a press using different additive and subtractive inking techniques, applying stencils, and implementing trace printing. Participants are encouraged but not required to bring 8 x 10 in. drawings/reference material to work from. All other materials are provided!

Instructor: Emily Jalinsky received a BFA in printmaking with an emphasis in intaglio etching and expanded media from the University of Kansas. She has taught both adult and children’s courses through the Spencer Art Museum, Manhattan Arts Center and the Iowa City Press Co-op. Her works on paper, assemblages, and installations address mindfulness in the studio process and in the viewer's experience. She lives and works in Iowa City and is the Program Coordinator at the Iowa City Press Co-op at Public Space One.
