Pressure Prints and Collagraphs on the Proofing Press

Saturdays, Nov. 3 + 10, 1-4pm

Registration Deadline: last minute sign-up okay!

Teens 14+ and adults

Learn how to use letterpress proof presses to create atmospheric prints using collage and paper-cutting techniques. Pressure printing and collagraphs are inexpensive methods that make use of the proof press’ sensitivity to small differences in the thickness and texture of materials and can yield subtle and complex imagery that can illustrate a broadside, cover a book, or be its own art print. Participants will learn the basics of these techniques and then have ample time to experiment, creating a sampler of prints to trade and take home.

Location: ICPC Main Room, ICPC Letterpress Room

Instructor: Mackie Garrett is a poet, printer, and arts educator. He has been taking workshops and printing at the press cooperative for nearly two years. He makes poetry broadsides, posters, chapbooks, and other things for 508 Press.
