ICE CREAM 2019 Vendor Info
PUBLIC SPACE ONE
(in the Wesley Student Center)
120 N. Dubuque St.
Iowa City, IA 52245
PS1, the Wesley Center, and the Mission Creek Festival welcome and affirm all persons without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, physical or mental ability, economic condition, or religious affiliation.
Please let us know as early as possible if you cannot attend ICE CREAM by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We can refund your registration up to 2 weeks before the event, but please tell us earlier if you can so that we can offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.
Please respect the event organizers, audience, and other vendors by not packing up your table until the end of the day. If you need to step out briefly during the day, you can ask a neighbor or one of our volunteers to watch it while you’re gone.
Loading can begin at 9:00 am on April 6. There is a small loading zone area in front of the building. There is also an alley between the building and the church next door. The traffic in the alley is one way, and should be accessed from Dubuque Street. Pull into the loading zone spot if it is available (two vehicles can fit there if the first one in pulls forward). If there is someone there, pull past it in the alley. We will have several volunteers available to help you unload and get you to your table as quickly as possible to free up space in the loading zone area.
There is no parking at PS1 (at the Wesley Center). We are NOT allowed to park in the adjacent spaces belonging to the church. The nearest (cheapest, longest) parking is along the street on the Northside (2-8 blocks from the space). The parking in Northside neighborhoods past Pagliai's Pizza is free, but it is alternate side of the street parking. You might find a spot there, but you might have to drive around a bit to find it, and you may end up walking 10 to 15 minutes to get back to venue. Given the extent of festivities downtown, don't expect close, easy parking. There are also several parking ramps within a couple blocks and long-term metered parking in the lot on Market St. between the Bluebird Diner and George’s Buffet, should you want to pay for a day of parking.
You are permitted to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into PS1, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants. We may also have food available from the PS1 kitchen. When that is finalized, we’ll update you on the menu!
One of the fun things we did last year, and want to do again, is create an ICE CREAM time capsule/treasure chest. If you would like to participate, you can donate one or two items -- it can be anything relatively small, book size (please, no 2 foot by 3 foot posters!): a comic, zine, a button, sticker, mini comic, etc -- and once we have all the content, we'll make a box that will hold everything. The librarians at The Special Collections of The University of Iowa Libraries will add it to their collections! (They will also be at the show purchasing a limited number of individual pieces from artists as they have done the past couple of years). If you don't want to contribute anything, that's OK, too, participation is not required. We'll have a collection box the day of the show.
