ICVZ youth video workshop!

Iowa City area middle schoolers are invited to create and premiere a youth-only episode of IOWA CITY VIDEO ZINE, a collaborative, inclusive, and experimental video program based at PS1’s Media Arts Co-op.

July 1st, 9am-4pm: video basics!
learn about equipment, narrative and nonfiction story basics, production planning, working with others, editing (adobe premiere pro) and work on your own movie. lunch provided :)


July 15th, 12-4pm: promo/planning!
design flyers, edit the episode, and coordinate public premiere. will also explore how to promote your work in the future and collaborate with the community!

August 7. 5-8pm: episode screening at FilmScene!
participants are invited to introduce and do a Q&A about their work before and after it is shown on the big screen at FilmScene at the Chauncey

Additional details:

  • Participation is free! Families with access to more resources are encouraged to consider a donation to PS1 to help continue our accessible programming.

  • Registration is limited to 12 participants.

  • Once registration is complete, parents/guardians will be asked to fill out a permission form that is required for participation.

Clare Kinkaid will be leading the workshop series, along with five other teachers. She is the founder of Iowa City Video Zine, teacher of Intuitive Filmmaking workshops, is an experimental video artist, ambassador of the Media Arts Co-op and serves on the Public Space One board.
