Exhibitions & Artist Projects
ABOUT PS1’S GALLERY PROGRAM
PS1’s gallery program is collaboratively led by the Gallery Team, a group of community members that meets bi-weekly to curate a yearly exhibition schedule supporting innovative and experimental contemporary art embedded in a multidisciplinary, accessible, and community-driven space. We schedule our calendar of exhibitions by local, national, and international artists with diverse backgrounds through an open call for proposals each fall. We encourage artists and curators to fully activate the space by thinking “beyond the wall,” and to host events that engage the wider community such as screenings, artist talks, performances, or workshops.
Our main gallery is located on the first floor of PS1 Northside (229 N. Gilbert), which hosts exhibitions year-round. Exhibitions sometimes activate non-traditional spaces at the Northside, like porches, sheds, gardens, bathrooms, and occasionally include performances and screenings at the PS1 Close House (538 S. Gilbert) location.
