TEACHING ARTIST:
Jenny Gringer is a self-taught linocut printmaker specializing in both single and multiblock color printing. Through years of dedicated experimentation, she has developed a distinctive style that has earned her recognition in publications and exhibitions across Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Japan, and Louisiana. Jenny’s work often explores political themes, the human condition, and resilience in the face of adversity, while she also finds joy in carving images of animals, birds, and fish. Her art is characterized by a spirit of lawlessness, subversiveness, and enthusiasm, reflecting her approach to both creativity and life. An active participant in the local art scene, Jenny regularly joins the Iowa City Joy March. Born and raised in Iowa City, she continues to live there with her family and four cats, drawing inspiration from her community and surroundings.
