Students will learn visible mending techniques for both woven and knitted clothing. Techniques covered will include hand sewing with sashiko thread with an introduction to sashiko and boro styles & darning creating woven patches using a loom. Students should bring any scraps of fabric they will be mending with as well as the articles of clothing they want to mend.

*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. $132 is the true cost of the workshop, and we encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
TEACHING ARTIST:
Lilah Ward Shepherd is a multidisciplinary artist working with textiles, natural dyeing, printmaking, clay, painting and drawing. Her work has been exhibited across the United States and Canada. Her work explores color relationships, geometric shapes and patterning, relationships between forms and space while investigating human relationships, identity, ancestry, peace, comfort, and play.
