screen fails (and rescues!)

  • IC Press Co-op at PS1 225 North Gilbert Street Iowa City, IA, 52245 United States (map)

with the ICPC screen committee
Tuesday, Sept 29, 5:30-7:30 pm
IC Press Co-op (225 N. Gilbert)
Free for PS1 members, suggested donation for others

September is member month at PS1! Join us to collectively print, face print woes, and succeed all in one night - all while we make a little art! Small snacks included!

This brief art skills workshop is open to current PS1 members and folks who are interested in membership and screenprinting in particular. The night will start with introductions to the shop and a little screen process, but we’ll focus on printing and an active Q&A! The ICPC screen committee will have screens ready with two very different images exposed on them and everyone will have a chance to print and practice as we jointly troubleshoot along the way. Participants will walk away with a print and a little more screenprinting know-how, from screen care to cleanup.

Sign up today to collaborate and practice printing in community!

(Please note that this art skills workshop is not equivalent to intro to screenprint at PS1, but is a great way to learn more about the Iowa City Press Co-op, PS1 membership, gain skills, and practice the printing process.)

Open to teens and adults 14+.

Free for PS1 members; by donation for others. Ready to join?! Find out more and join here

TEACHING ARTISTS:

The ICPC screen committee is comprised of PS1 members who collectively tend to the shared ICPC studio and also happen to enjoy screenprinting as a technique to creatively work and broadcast new ideas. All members help maintain this area of the Press Co-op, caring for the screens, refilling supplies, making updates to the equipment, and implementing small improvements each month. They also intermittently install shelves, make signs, clean screens, and have snacks together!
