A workshop for artists in need of connection who want to collaborate with local organizations in need of artists. This 3-hour skillshare will teach artists about skills and resources for designing original and effective advocacy posters for local activist organizations. Skills covered will include initiating partnerships, researching protest art history, and applying the design process to a specific campaign. 

Participants will leave with the contact information of a local organization aligned with their interests and a rough plan for following up with a poster design.

Open to teens and adults 14+. Prior experience with a creative medium and/or poster design will be helpful.

TEACHING ARTIST:

Nat Holm is an Iowa City based artist and writer who applies collage, printmaking, and journalistic techniques to designing socially engaged zines and posters. Nat also teaches weekly zine workshops addressing topics such as social responsibility, community resilience, and media literacy skills.
