Visit the Iowa City Airport to see Array of Light, an art exhibit featuring pieces by local artists made with and inspired by solar energy.
Participating artists: Marty Monick, John Engelbrecht, Thomas Agran, Dani Sigler, May Roded, Jamie Weinfurter, Laura Meyer, Natalie Deam, Sayuri Sasaki Hemann, Polly Sherlock, Sally Chai, Stacey Hockett Sherlock, Sammie Tran, Théo Biger, & Matthieu Biger
Then try your own hand at creating solar art with a drop-in cyanotype workshop outside in the airport viewing area.
The workshop and exhibition are organized by ICPC member and IC Summer Residency participant Laura Moser.
Get an up close look at the new airport solar array on one of two tours (at 4:30 and 6 p.m.). This year, 300 newly installed ground-mounted solar panels at the Iowa City Municipal Airport came online, powering the terminal, runway lights, and ambulatory hangar with clean energy. In the summer months, the power production even exceeded the airport’s needs, flowing onto the grid to help supply nearby structures with the additional energy.
