Public Access Television came to Iowa in the 1970s and inspired a long history of local conversation, journalism, creativity, and experimentation on the small screen. Iowa City’s PATV (Channel 18) was the most recent iteration in this long tradition – leaving a storied legacy of co-operative art spaces and the political potential of media arts. PS1’s Media Arts Co-OP (MAC) is carrying these values forward and recognizes the integral role of PATV in defining its own creative mission.

We care for the PATV archives in order to document the past and inspire future creative work!
