Residency in Community

Residency in Community hosts visiting artists onsite at PS1 for 2-4 weeks. It is geared towards artists who have a significant component of their practice grounded in an areas that PS1 has robust resources and an established local artistic community around:

• printmaking/book arts
• media arts
• land/built environment

During their residency artists benefit from access to these resources and communities, facilitated by support from PS1 staff, who will consult with residents in advance to ensure that they are able to make the most of their time. Each resident will have ample time to pursue their desired projects using both private and community-access workspaces, but also be expected to host at least one community engagement activity, such as a workshop, skillshare, or critique night, during their time in Iowa City. Informal community engagement will also be encouraged.
