Paige Wilkinson

Iowa Art Field 2025

Paige Wilkinson is a materials-minded artist and MFA candidate at the University of Iowa’s Center for the Book, exploring memory and place through handmade paper and glass. As a lifelong Iowan, she harvests local fibers and creates natural dyes to produce ephemeral anthotype shadow prints that capture impressions of landscapes and architecture. Her practice investigates light’s transformative power in revealing hidden worlds, discovering parallels between glass and paper when held to light.

Her work examines how spaces absorb and transform memory, using light-sensitive prints that gradually fade—mirroring memory’s own impermanence. The harvested paper substrates act as “tethers” to specific places and moments, grounding her exploration of liminal spaces and forgotten places. Each anthotype becomes both documentation and meditation on transience, existing in dialogue with light’s revelatory and destructive powers.
