s.j.a is our spring resident at the center for afrofuturist studies, where they are developing the first episode of AMPERS&ND [sound machine] RADIO, or A.s.m.R. this radio program will act as a(nother) sonic conduit to the larger AMPERS&ND universe, an ongoing multimedia archive & performance series blending griotic ritual, metanarrativity, & experimental epistemology. Heavily influenced by their background as a cognitive neuroscientist & experimental filmmaker, AMPERS&ND emphasizes the use of ‘creative metadata’ – i.e screen recordings, phone media, & digital marginalia – to generate a hypertext of evolving gnostic & artistic philosophy in the context of the digital age.
episode 001 of A.s.m.R will blend jazz, jam, & dialogue, in a mediascape of soul-stirring sounds – from personal & collective archives – engaging fellow inter/multi/trans/anti- disciplinary artists & thinkers on themes of ancestral intelligence, intuitive practice, & our devotion to remixing source material. in this inaugural epsisode, s.j.a will also be in conversation with artist & filmmaker Liani Greaves – granddaughter of renowned experimental documentarian William Greaves – ahead of the Cannes premiere of the newest Greaves family film: Once Upon a Time in Harlem.
