Intermediate Letterpress: Typesetting Outside the Lines
Intermediate Letterpress: Typesetting Outside the Lines
with Laura Moser
Sundays February 15, February 22, and March 1: 10am-2pm
at the IC Press Co-op (225 N. Gilbert)
pay-what-you-can: $50-$200
This workshop will expand participants' curiosity and skills in setting type for letterpress, from straight lines and grids into the world of circles and other shapes. Drawing inspiration from historical and contemporary examples of shaped text in both manuscript and print, participants will be introduced to the techniques and tools to explore creatively shaped text in their own letterpress practice. In-class experiments will combine collaborative and independent work.
This workshop is aimed at intermediate letterpress printers with some previous experience in setting type by hand. First-time letterpress printers are encouraged to complete the Intro to Letterpress workshop before taking this class.
Open to ages 18+.
Registration deadline: February 8
*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. $178 is the true cost of the workshop, and we encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
