Aunna Escobedo

Aunna Escobedo (she/they) earned their MFA in Printmaking at the University of Northern Texas. They’ve worked as an art educator and advocate for equitable opportunities within the arts for many years, including non-profits, galleries, museums, and higher-education institutions. They are the Program Coordinator at the Iowa City Press Co-op, and serve as Instructor of Art plus Director of Galleries and Collections at Coe College. Their studio practice embraces  printmaking’s methodical qualities while integrating spontaneity and adaptation of unexpected forms. Their artwork has been exhibited nationally in Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Ohio, California, Colorado, Texas, Puerto Rico, and internationally in Italy and Cuba.

Besides all things printmaking, they enjoy spending time playing fiddle, going to concerts, cooking, tending to houseplants, and gardening. They are excited about the energy that PS1/ICPC holds. Growing up in the CRANDIC area there were never places that artists could gather to this capacity. “Upon returning to the area there seems to be a new found buzz happening, and PS1 feels like a home away from home. Let’s keep the momentum going!”
