Learning hand-drawn animation doesn’t need to be a slow, lonely & daunting process! This workshop we will cover the basics of hand-drawn / traditional animation (on paper!) and the basic tools necessary for producing animations on one’s own - both between our meetings and after the workshop is finished. The workshop will focus on fundamental animation principles (like squash & stretch), loops, transformations, and walk cycles through a series of short exercises and collaborative activities. By the end of the workshop, participants should have (at least) four short animated shots completed, as well as the skills and new animator comrades to animate their own film!
Open to ages 14+. Basic drawing skills (or at least an interest in drawing) will be helpful, but all are welcome!
In addition to the registration fee for this workshop, participants will need to bring their own A4 light pad and pegbar (see links for examples). All other materials will be provided.
Registration deadline: July 25
*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. XXXX is the true cost of the workshop. We encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford. If you have a higher income or access to resources, pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
