Learn how to make an edition of single sheet zines using screenprint! 

These pocket-sized multiples are two-sided and can be folded into a pamphlet or unfolded to reveal a poster. We’ll browse contemporary and art historical images for context and inspiration. We’ll also discuss how our zines and the practice of screenprinting can be tools for sharing our art and writing, engaging our histories, and forging tactics for activism and resistance.

During two workshops, we’ll plan, print, and assemble a set of 10 zines. We’ll make hand-drawn transparencies or cut stencils to create each zine’s text and/or images. Using photo emulsion, this imagery will be exposed onto our screens and ultimately printed using water-based inks. We’ll also check out the DIY Publishing Studio for other zine-making tools and methods.

Tips and guidance for generating imagery will be shared prior to the first meeting. Any specialized paper will be the responsibility of each participant. All other supplies are provided. 

Open to ages 14+. Techniques covered during these sessions are equivalent to the Intro to Screenprint workshop curriculum.
