Reduction Linocut printing is a method of relief block printing in which each layer is carved and printed from the same matrix to build a multi layered print. Sequentially, linoleum is carved away and printed on all sheets of paper for the full edition, and repeated until the final layer is printed. Once the block has been carved for the next layer, there’s no going back!
In this multi day workshop artists will learn how to plan out, carve, and print a small edition of a reduction linocut print. Guidance and demonstrations will be provided for image selection, design concentration on pattern, texture and layering, carving techniques, inking and print registration. On the last meeting day artists will be able to share and discuss their prints with one another, along with potential trades!
Previous linocut experience is helpful but not required.
Open to ages 18+.
Registration deadline: Sept. 27
*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. $202 is the true cost of the workshop, and we encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
