Drypoint Etching with Recycled Materials
Drypoint Etching with Recycled Materials
with Heather Steckler
Thursday, September 4, 5:30-9pm
IC Press Co-op (225 N. Gilbert)
sliding scale: $15-$100
This workshop introduces students to a non-toxic form of drypoint intaglio printmaking using recycled materials. Participants will learn how to make a drypoint etching plate using milk cartons or other tetrapak materials. Reference imagery will be transferred onto the recycled cartons using carbon transfer paper and then various drypoint and collagraph techniques will be demonstrated for participants to incorporate into their plates.
Ink and paper will be provided and students will pull their own small edition of prints on the press. There will also be time for discussions of various at-home printing techniques using common/ affordable household tools so that you can continue your experimentations at home after the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring reference images or sketches to work from.
Open to ages 18+.
Registration deadline: Sept. 2
*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. $77 is the true cost of the workshop, and we encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
